Let’s face it, these are truly exceptional times. Unpredictable, unfamiliar, uncharted, and unknown. All of the things that a great adventure is made of! The more I conquer the challenges I make for myself, the easier it is to face external challenges.
What is an Adventure Coach?
I will support you to challenge yourself physically and emotionally. Whether you want to pursue an adventure once the Covid situation has eased or you want to figure out how to find an adventure with the current limitations, we can begin to explore the possibilities.
We will explore together what is holding you back, what you want to do, where you want to go, whether you want to do it alone or with others.
I will be your guide in figuring out the details like packing, budgeting, minimizing, navigate self doubt, how to travel on a tight budget, how to use navigation apps and tools, and explore the nuts and bolts.
I believe that we each have our own adventure(s) calling to us. Mine is probably different than yours. Nonetheless here are some of my personal favorites:
WALKING THROUGH THE NIGHT
This can be done so many different ways—usually I walk about 24 hours straight but it is your adventure so with my assistance, you get to decide what you want to do.
This could be a day of hitchhiking to get somewhere or longer. I often need to hitchhike when I am traveling to get to a next village or sometimes to get across a country. In 2019, I hitchhiked from Tucson to the southern part of Mexico.
SWIMMING IN NATURAL BODIES OF WATER
In most places in the world there are fantastic natural streams, rivers, and lakes that are like pure heaven to swim in—even when they are 40 degrees! There is such a thrill to find a remote body of water, strip down, and jump in!
This can be done in one night or several. Basically, wild camping means that you go to a remote area, bring everything you would need to survive out in the wild, pack it on your back, and start walking until you find the perfect spot to spend the night.
POSSIBILITIES FOR ADVENTURE ARE ENDLESS
Whether you want to plant a garden, put a backpack on your back and just start walking out your front door for a few days, solo camp for a night, learn a new skill, cycle 50, 100, or even 200 km, or plan a longer adventure like a cycle tour or thru-hike, I can guide you through fears, limitations, and take you through the essentials and practical nuts and bolts.
For me, the greatest adventure happens when I stop resisting and start to see possibility instead of just limitation. This means challenging myself, accepting a certain degree of risk, and being true to myself. It means being willing to put myself in a situation where I do not control the outcome. Adventures are not just fun. Hard things can happen. But with hardship and failure comes humility, strength, and often unexpected rewards.
